Hi there,
I just wanted to share this story that I posted on our family blog. I think probably Stephen will enjoy this tale of hunting!!
S.
So here I sat this afternoon, bemoaning the fact that all the kids were gone and things were way too quiet and uneventful................
Leave it to Wayne to stir things up. He has been trying for the last month to get the geese close enough to shore so he could shoot one--totally a "man thing"! I asked him at the time how he thought he would get the goose in to shore. He said the canoe. We bought a new one a couple of years ago which is lighter (Kevlar) and smaller than our big, heavy one we had been using. The only problem is that lighter and smaller translates into not as stable and able to take waves the same as the mammoth one we have been used to. I am getting ahead myself though.
This afternoon, dressed in the newest of technology in long undies courtesy of Mark, Tracy and Jade, he headed to the stairs with the dog to see what he could lure in to shore. He took the dog because for some reason the geese are always attracted to him (the dog) and come in closer to look. Well he did his job well and Wayne shot his goose!!! (The dog was only temporarily traumatized--I think--from the gunshot noise).
I watched out the window as Wayne looked out onto the water. I thought because of the wave action he was waiting for it to float into shore so I went back to what I was doing. About 20 minutes later Wayne comes in the garage so I went to greet him to see what he had shot. Instead of a goose in hand he had his glasses (all iced up of course) in hand and was soaked through. Apparently the canoe capsized while he was attempting to retrieve his goose. Amazingly, he was in pretty good humour about he whole thing--even joking that the high tech undies really didn't work well. I reminded him that there was no suggestion by the company that you could swim in Lake Ontario in December and still be warm and dry.
After a hot shower and dry clothes we both went out to bring the goose and the canoe up from the shore. We noticed on the way to the canoe that there were fox tracks around. It is a wonder that the goose was still there. It really would have added to the story if the fox had taken the goose!!!
We are going to search the web for some wild goose recipes--he kept the breast only--or if anyone knows a good recipe pass it on.
Well we are closing in on the New Year. I hope everyone has a great celebration--we will be dining on goose!
This blog will chronicle the daily adventures of the Bailas Family as they make their way to the "Sunny South" to celebrate the Holiday Season! Who knows what amazing events await them!!

Trip to John's Pass
Well today was a BIG adventure, off to Madiera Beach we went to take the girls to the ocean. They loved the salt water and the waves, and the sand. Yes their crazy papou went in the gulf at 68' and so did they. Kids dont care what the temp when it comes to water. We then went off to John's pass for a pizza and jug of beer(water for the kidlets) just in case you where worried we fed them beer..lol. A long walk on the board walk was very rewarding as the girls got to see their first dolphins playing in the channel. The perfect ending to a great day. Sue the nice soap and sponge shop has moved to the main area of John's pass up from the side street.
I finalily have internet at the RV, slow mind you but I have it. I am going to try and attach a couple of photo's from earlier this week. Stay warm, it is chilly here as well cold front came in yesterday. Woolies again tonight.Hugs, Sue

Good Morning!
Brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr! it's cold here. At least the sun is shining. Hope you are having warmer weather. I think this is the coldest morning so far this year. We are heading to Belleville today to see what is left in the stores. I know, a little late but I cannot stand crowds anymore. I will let you know what, if anything we buy.
Have a great day!

Rainy Tuesday
Well the first rain day on the trip, but still no need for jackets thats the bonus of being here. Decided to have a shopping day, rented a van this am and off we went. Lindsay and Steven found some deals for the kids, and I kept Bill away from the pants and the shirts dept. and we all know what that is about.LOL.
Had lunch at Chili's and highly recommend that resturant, yummy, no margarita's but a pineapple and cranberry drink that was really tasty. Izzy is getting sick, so it was a quiet night and we just tucked her in
and are hoping for the best in the am. The weather man said a cold front is moving in and it will be cooler for the rest of the week maybe only 68 or 70. Well that is all for tonight , thanks for the great family picture it makes me a little homesick.. but i am sure i will get over it when the sun is shining in the morning. Hugs and good night. Sue
Merry Everything from The Baker's
The weather is nasty, wet and windy here. Hope you are enjoying another warm sunny day. Have a margarita or two for us!!

Boxing Day
Hello and Happy Boxing Day, why do they call it that, are we suppose to get boxes today and pack things up?? always wondered that.
Another beauty day here at Sun and Fun, around 78' and sunny until about 3 pm when a storm front moved in. Very cloudy, but just a sprinkle and a nice breeze. Tomorrow rain is forcasted, a good day to rent a car and hit the shopping trials.
The girls are having a blast, ridding their bikes and playing with their Christmas stuff. We got them tickets for the monster hippo water slide here at the resort today and they made me tired running up 6 story stairs to reach the top...I said you know when you are getting old when all those stairs just don't look like fun anymore. They loved it!!!
Steven, is really relaxing even had a NAP yesterday...he said he does not remember when he has ever done that. Chef Sue is cooking up some great food, so we all can keep up our strength. Susan I still cant hook up our laptop , but when we figure it out for sure i will post pictures for you. Hope all is well with you and you enjoy the time with the kids .
We are off to get an ice cream then bed i think. Good night from the sunshine state, until tomorrow. Sue

We are waiting on pins and needles!!!!!
We have been thinking about you all day and hope that the first day of your "Big Adventure" has gone well. Remember that half the fun is in the getting there and that vacation allows for the rules of normal routine to be forgotten!!
Have fun and let us know how things are going when you have a chance.
